Personal Navigation and Reporting

Due to the increasing use of technology to plan and implement modern day combat, it is imperative that troop and vehicles deployment and position be known as precisely as possible. Furthermore, the unit commander must be able to quickly plan, transmit, and display friendly and adversarial troop and vehicle locations to coordinate battlefield operations effectively in the heat of battle. In this effort we propose to develop a Personal Reporting and Navigation System (PNRS) subsystem using Non-Developmental Item navigations aids (GPS, INS, Magneto Compass, etc.), and UHF radio with data interfaces. This system will also provide a unique solution to the problem of ground based friend or foe identification. In phase I we will demonstrate a conceptual implementation of the system using commercial comonents. In Phase II complete architecture integration will be done based on Phase I Results.
