Abstract:
A tool has been developed, Software Pixels On Target (SPOT), that provides a decision maker with the capability to visualize the effect of sensor performance for the detection of objects of interest during Phase I efforts for the Novel Airborne Video Sensors SBIR. Video data was obtained from a fixed-wing aircraft for software validation. Image processing software was developed that showed the effects of resolution and field-of-view degradation in high-resolution experimental data. This effort was focused on the detection of objects of interest. In Phase II, we propose to enhance and direct efforts to assist the decision maker in selecting the optimum sensor package for surveillance of a large area. Tools will be developed to efficiently store large amounts of sensor data and the capability to backtrack through the stored data for the detection of objects of interest. Once an event has happened, objects of interest may be detected in the stored imagery and then backtracked in time to determine their origin. This information can then be utilized for monitoring objects of interest and their movement for the detection of future events or backward in time to identify the network involved and thus enabling the complete network to be destroyed.
